We just want to share the activity that we did last Thursday during Ethnic relations class.We think that this class is quiet fun because we are going to do some activities which seems to be interesting.For example during the class last thursday, we had done a simple activity which required us to find out 12 basic concepts of ethnic relations.We had to circle the correct answer among a lot of letter.There are 2 person for each group.This activity became more interesting when we had to compete with each other because the first group that could solved the problems will be given a reward.En Ahmad will take their photos to be published somewhere.Finally Syawal and Haikal were announced as the winners and their photo had been taken.Actually the answers are :
1) assimilation - to absorb into group or system.
2) pluralism - a political theory or system of power-sharing among a
number of political parties.
3) segregation - to separate people according to their race.
4) accommodation - a settlement or compromise.
5) acculturation - assimilate or cause to assimilate a different culture.
6) nation - a large aggregate of people united by common descent,
culture, or language, inhabiting a particular state or
territory.
7) racism - the belief that there are characteristics, abilities, or
qualities specific to each race.
8) prejudice - preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or
actual experience.
9) ethnocentrism - evaluating other cultures according to preconceptions
originating in one’s own culture.
10)stereotype - an image or idea of a particular type of person or thing
that has become fixed through being widely held.
11)enculturation - the gradual acquisition of the norms of a culture or
group.
12)discrimination - the action of discriminating against people.
After that, we are given a homework that we need to answer 5 questions where the answer can be find through http://www.scribd.com/doc/34609780/Bab-1-Konsep-Asas-He.we have to submit this homework on Thursday.
